- Toyota has indefinitely suspended fitting out their new auto
assembly plant in Blue Springs, Mississippi, although the
building will be completed and thus available later. The status of
several related Toyota supplier projects is still not clear. The
Volkswagen project in Chattanooga, TN and the Kia project in Georgia are
still reportedly moving forward at this time for 2011 and 2009.

The White House has announced a new
Open Economies Policy Statement which includes the
Invest in America initiative at the US Department of Commerce which

ISM (Institute for Supply Management) issued their
spring 2007 Semiannual Economic Forecast. It projected strong
2007 growth in capital investment in manufacturing and non-manufacturing
sectors at a rate of 5.8% and 5.6% respectively.

fDi magazine presented awards during the BIO 2007 convention in Boston
to the winners of the North American Cities of the Future awards.

The US Department of Commerce issued a
press release about the new Invest in America initiative, which will
include new efforts by 2300 International Trade Administration (ITA)
officials worldwide to support the foreign direct investment attraction
efforts by state and local economic development organizations.
Previously, the ITA officials focused mainly on US export promotion and
trade policies, rather than competition for foreign investment into the

American Electronics Association, is a technology industry lobbying
group which publishes such things as their annual
Cyberstates report published in April 2007. This largely
serves to reinforce their federal and state lobbying agenda related to

publishes various statistical database rankings which seem to attract
the attention of economic development agencies in the USA. For
